私にとって必要なこと（当然のこと、ふさわしいこと）、何としてでも、到来する「その祭り」をエルサレムで守ること

これが入っているのが長い文の方で、入ってないのが短いもの。

つまり、入っているものと入っていないものがあるということです。

 

さて、ここで、

 

いま私の手元にある新改訳聖書（注解・索引　チェーン式引照付）1990年8月1日第6刷から使徒の働き18章21節と22節を引用します。

 

人々は、もっと長くとどまるように頼んだが、彼は聞き入れないで、「神のみこころなら、またあなたがたのところに帰って来ます」と言って別れを告げ、エペソから船出した。
それからカイザリアに上陸してエルサレムに上り、教会にあいさつしてからアンテオケに下って行った。

 

上のギリシャ語聖書の「短い」文の方の仲間です。

22節のエルサレムという言葉は補足だそうです。

 

 

 

 

せっかくの機会なので、昔々使っていた「新約聖書略解」という本を引っ張り出してみます。

これは、日本基督教団出版局発行のもので、1955年に初版、私の持っているのは1984年4月1日増訂新版30版というもので、87年1月22日に煥乎堂で購入したものです。

 

 

まずはこの略解という本が解説している「口語訳聖書」を19節から23節まで引用します。

 

一行がエペソに着くと、パウロはふたりをそこに残しておき、自分だけ会堂にはいって、ユダヤ人たちと論じた。人々は、パウロにもっと長いあいだ滞在するように願ったが、彼は聞きいれないで、「神のみこころなら、またあなたがたのところに帰ってこよう」と言って、別れを告げ、エペソから船出した。それから、カイザリヤで上陸してエルサレムに上り、教会にあいさつしてから、アンテオケに下って行った。そこにしばらくいてから、彼はまた出かけ、ガラテヤおよびフルギヤの地方を歴訪して、すべての弟子たちを力づけた。

「なぜエルサレムにおもむいたのかは不明」と書いてあります。

 

パウロはどうしてエルサレムに行ったのですか？

それは祭りを祝うためです。

抜けている聖書もありましたが、そう書いている聖書もあるのですから、

「不明」とするより「そういう説もある」くらい書いても問題はないと思います。

 

しかも、です、エルサレムに行くと言えば、大体想像はつくわけです

詩篇にある「都上りの歌」

都に上る、エルサレムに行く、なぜ？

パウロも上っていきました。エルサレムに行きます。なぜ？

 

それは祭りを祝うためです。

 

 

で、当然と言えば当然のことですがヘブライ語に翻訳された新約聖書の使徒の働きにはこの言葉がちゃんと残されています。

研究の成果として「パウロは祭りを祝ってはいなかった」という動くことのない結論に至ったというのであればそれでよいとは思いますが、
パウロがユダヤ教の祭りを祝っていたことを隠したかった、とか言うわけではないでしょうね・・・？
